Summary

An experienced engineer that can handle the complexity of involved projects from concept to production. Demonstrate proficiency in applying design codes to structures and related designs. The position requires the ability to model and perform stress analysis on bins, supports, foundations or related structures. The job will involve a range of responsibilities, from total development of new product lines to completion of minor product improvements. The candidate must be able to work independently and as a team member or coordinator. Innovative thinking and creativity is required.

Specific Responsibilities

  1. Knowledge and ability to review and approve construction foundation drawings.
  2. Knowledge and ability to review and approve bin construction specification drawings.
  3. Knowledge and ability to review and approve designs with working knowledge of applicable design codes and provide conformance certification to end customers. Sample of codes listed in prior section.
  4. Design: Interface and communicate concepts with design software tools.
  5. Analysis: Perform structural analysis and interface with analysis software.
  6. Design, layout and calculations for products and new development.
  7. Communication and coordinating with the District Managers, dealers and customers on product technical issues.
  8. Ability to evaluate products in the field and failure analysis.
  9. Field support of product with District Managers and Dealers in forms of service calls, product presentations and installation techniques.
  10. Mentor and contribute to the growth of product support engineer(s).
  11. Develop bills of materials for new products.
  12. Research materials, develop concepts, test and evaluate prototype products.
  13. Coordinate with manufacturing engineering during product development.
  14. Assist with training sales and customer service on products.
  15. Assuring product’s proper function and application.
  16. Overseeing performance, quality, and cost of the assigned projects relating to this product line.
  17. Managing projects of varying types to improve product performance, cost, sales support, and develop sales tools for responsible product line.
  18. Assuring the timeliness, organization, and buy-in of others for the project.
  19. Communicating to others about project timing, difficulties, needs and successes.
  20. Monitor performance of products in the field; support when required.
  21. Direct efforts for product documentation such as manuals, sales presentations and technical literature.
  22. Responsible to check accuracy of drawings produced by draftsman as it relates to the design of assigned projects or product development.
  23. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Educaton:  BS or MS Structural Engineer discipline, Professional Engineering license in Structural Engineering. Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in area of discipline is required.

Ideal candidate would be skilled in knowledge and application in at least four (4) of the following design codes and application as it related to bin design and associated structures:

Travel:  This position will require travel that will vary in frequency but should not exceed 25% of the time.  There will be the possibility of international travel.

 

Personal Skills:  The ability to understand technical issues, simplifies tasks, organize and motivate people.  Take personal responsibility for the assigned products and projects. The engineer must be able to see the complete project and help with the details to make it a success.
