What You’ll Do:


As the Production Planner, you will plan and manage the production schedule and inventory levels to meet production needs, support inventory strategy, and customer order timelines.



Specific Responsibilities

You’re Accountabilities in the Role:


  • You will manage the production schedule to meet the customer requirements.
  • You will monitor/manage inventory levels (collaborating with Purchasing) to meet production and customer needs. You will also ensure the inventory counts are accurate through an effective cycle counting process.
  • You will work closely with the plant manager, plant superintendent, and production personnel to facilitate the successful execution of the production plan.  
  • You will collaborate with Customer Service on production scheduling issues, where the order sales schedule may be impacted to find proactive solutions.
  • You will support Lean and Safety initiatives by participating and leading events at the facility to facilitate goal attainment and foster a culture of continuous improvement.


Position Requirements:


  • Education/Knowledge: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Management, or related field; or the equivalent in course work and experience.  
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience.  APICS (American Production & Inventory Control Society) certification would be helpful but not required.  Working within a union environment would also be helpful. 
  • Functional Skills: Good math skills, planning, organizing, and analysis of data and summations. 
  • Technology Aptitude/Other: ERP and material planning system experience required, with Report Writing experience.  JD Edwards would be helpful but not required.  Advanced in Excel. 
  • Behaviors: Excellent communication skills (oral/written) ability to prioritize and multi-task, able to influence others, can work independently and be supportive of others. 
  • Culture of the area: Forward-thinking, flexible and able to create and support continuous improvement and change, with a desire to wear multiple hats beyond production planning based on a lean organization.    May be involved in Safety and Quality management project activities.     


Other Important Information:     


Position Status & Salary:  Salaried Non-Exempt position; Salary is commensurate with proven expertise. 


This position is eligble for bonus & profit sharing!  And, the compensation will grow as the team member grows!


Reports To:     Production & Scheduling Manager                                                                                                                     


Core Hours:   7:30 am – 5:30 pm (range that someone could work within)


Typical Work Week:  M-F; some weekend time based on schedule/inventory counts; 45-50 (hours varied based workload); some hours could be worked from home, where feasible


Direct Reports:     None


Travel:   Approximately 5% or less; visiting vendors or other sister sites
