Specific Responsibilities

What You’ll Do: 

As the Business Unit Controller, you will partner with the Brock General Manager in the decision-making processes, as it relates to the planning, executing and controlling of the operations based on the goals of the business.

 

You’re Accountabilities in the Role:

 

  • You will manage the business planning, ensuring operations is within business parameters, based on the goals of the business and be a key player in driving the execution of priorities and projects
  • You will support shared services to ensure the closing of the books are done in an accurate and timely manner and provide explanations for business performance relative to the annual plan and compared to the previous year
  • You will provide key financial analysis and summation input on business decisions in regards to new products, capital investing, strategic projects, etc.
  • You will lead and manage the data gathering for audits, as well as ensure internal controls are in place in regards to segregation of duties, defined procedures that follow financial best practices, etc
  • You will lead strategic priorities as they arise for the operation (an example would be optimization on order to cash)

Requirements

Position Requirements:

  •  Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • CPA, MBA, or CMA preferred but not required.
  • Experience: 7-10 years of financial analysis, with some accounting experience, preferably within a larger company handling complex situations. Some public accounting background would also be helpful.
  • Functional Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial analysis with the ability to form summations as required.  Ability to teach, train and coach non-financial staff in financial concepts, provide financial accountability in reviewing trends, variances, and providing guidance to others, as well as other cost analysis in relationship to business trends is also critical in the role.
  • Technology Skills: Advanced excel, extracting data from systems, and the ability to navigate through an ERP system.
  • Other Behaviors: Strong leadership and influencing skills to lead and guide team members in various areas is important.  Ability to easily speak up and put things on the table to help drive business performance is critical.  This person will have a quantitative approach but will also be able to communicate and relate well with others in all forms (written, verbal, and presenting).

Other Important Information:     

 

Position Status & Salary:  Exempt  position; Salary is commensurate with proven expertise. 

 

This position is eligble for bonus & profit sharing!  And, the compensation will grow as the team member grows!

 

Reports To:   Brock General Manager, with a dotted line to the Corporate Controller                                                                                                                      

 

Core Hours:   8 am – 5 pm (schedule can be slightly flexible)

 

Typical Work Week:  M-F; some weekends and OT required (when applicable); 45-50 hours a week on average

 

Indirect Reports:     2; Operations Accountant – Controller in IA

 

Travel:   Approximately 1 time per month to the other facilities (various locations)
